Where The Turf Meets The Crowd Surf

Songs that lend a voice to the equestrian world in a way only music can.

Coachella 2016 400

I suspect that for most attendees of The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, held annually at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, sand arenas and pipe corrals are just something to trudge past on the way to better things. But for this equestrian, experiencing Coachella’s merger of horses and music is half the fun!

I love that the expansive fields currently playing host to famous musicians and music lovers were just recently filled with the sound of thundering hoof beats. Acknowledging that both can and should thrive in the same space reminds me of the many ways in which both music and horses can bring us back to our natural selves.  I don’t think I’m the only one to notice this enticing fact, as festivals have been popping up on polo fields and racetracks all over the world – even Britain’s historic All England Jumping Course, Hickstead.

So, without further ado, allow me take you to a place ‘where the turf meets the crowd surf’ by way of my 2016 Coachella playlist. Each of these twenty songs were all actually performed on Weekend 1 and unabashedly celebrate our animal side. Get ready to kick up your feet like you’re at Coachella animal that you really are!
