At the LA Masters – Show Jumpers Take The Red Carpet

What Los Angeles event is complete with without a Red Carpet? Certainly not the Longines Masters in Los Angeles! After a long day in the saddle on Thursday, the riders/stars of the show jumping arena cleaned up for an evening of interviews and merriment.

Here is what some of the best of the best had to say as the made the iconic walk on their way to one heck of a party!

1. Kirsten Coe

Kirsten Coe was kind enough to be our first victim. Born and raised in California, Kirsten Coe sees the LA Masters as a bit of a homecoming now that she rides and resides on the east coast. And she could not be more ready for the event with a horse she calls California as her mount!

2. John Whitaker

At sixty-years young, Britain’s John Whitaker muses that he might be the oldest rider at this competition. But in this sport, age means wisdom, which is often what it takes to win. Whitaker has already put this learning to good use, clinching the top spot in the five-star Longines Gran Prix during the Hong Kong leg of the Masters Series.

On the red carpet, he didn’t dwell on the win. He was excited to talk about his love of the cowboy culture of the American Southwest. Quite candidly he shared, “My favorite rider is John Wayne.” What’s not to love about that!

3. Ben Maher

It seems that Ben Maher, also from Great Britain, shares Whitakers love of the cowboy lifestyle. In his own words, “Watching rodeo is good fun!” On Thursday night, he was also in good company, arriving for a photo with Hardin Towell, Kent Farrington and world number one, Scott Brash.

4. Quentin Judge

Quentin Judge was all smiles on the red carpet, and it’s no wonder. Just hours prior, he nabbed a win in The Hollywood Reporter Grand Prix aboard HH Fyloe, who flew around the course it seemed at the speed of light.

5. Jessica Springsteen

The lovely Jessica Springsteen didn’t participate in the speed class on Thursday, but she is eager to get in the saddle for tonight’s Longines Speed Challenge. “My horse is super fast and really careful so I think that will be a good class for us,” she said. Perhaps she will be the next big winner aboard Davendy S.

Finally, as the red carpet winds down, absolutely everybody is ready to cut loose in the fine Masters environment. With all this ambience, it’s not hard to see why!
