Longines Global Champions Tour Miami Beach

Sick of winter? So is the horse community! That’s why this week they are hitting the beach – Miami Beach to be exact. For the first time, Miami Beach is serving as the thrilling launch destination for the 2015 Longines Global Champions Tour. The show is hosting five exciting 5* classes, while visitors enjoy free access to seating around the beachfront arena and a fantastic selection of shopping in the Prestige Village from April 2nd to the 4th.

Sounds like the perfect way to welcome in warmer weather to us!

Of course, bringing elite level show jumping to the beach isn’t as easy as fencing in a nice sandy patch. Organizers spent nine days in advance of the competition clearing all the natural sand, leveling the ground, and replacing it with 1,000 tons of special competition sand. They also hauled in some 1,900 bales of wood shavings, eight tons of feed, and ten tons of hay to set up stabling for 220 horses.

But the rewards for these efforts are outstanding! Elites of the sport, like defending Tour Champion Scott Brash and his famous mount Hello Sanctos, as well as American riding royalty, are doing their best to kick off the event in style. Just check out what CNN has to say about show ambassadors Jessica Springsteen, Hannah Selleck and Jennifer Gates: Showjumping: Re-born in the U.S.A.?

What we at Counter-Canter Culture love best about the new American leg of the sometimes overly hoity-toity Longines Global Champions Tour is the all inclusive dress code. No shoes? No shirt? No problem!
