Songs that lend a voice to the equestrian world in a way only music can.
Just two years ago, Ian Hunt struck out to turn his hobby of manufacturing fairground items from days gone by it into some serious business. Now he’s making vintage fairground chic, and the carousel horse in particular, a must have in the world of music, art and fashion. We begin with a look at his work in the world of music.
Since starting UK Gallopers in 2012, Hunt has scored jobs with some of the biggest names in the music business, including a tour set for Australian rapper Iggy Azalea, and props for a Beyoncé concert in London, which was broadcast live to 160 countries and an estimated television audience one billion.
This winter, one of his handcrafted fairground horses also made its way into the star-studded remake of The Beach Boys’ classic “God Only Knows,” which is 2014’s Children in Need charity song.
The song for the annual BBC fund-raiser features an “Impossible Orchestra” with performances by Elton John, Pharrell Williams, Florence Welch and Jake Bugg to name just a few. During the video, folk singer Eliza Carthy is seen sitting on the gold-painted carousel horse made by Hunt.
Here’s a look at the “God Only Knows” video, and Ian Hunt’s work, in all its glory.
Stay tuned for Part 2 of the UK Galloper’s story where we see what Ian Hunt has been up to in the world of Arts & Equitainment!
