Songs that lend a voice to the equestrian world in a way only music can.
Shakespeare wrote “The earth sings when [my horse] touches it; the basest horn of his hoof is more musical than the pipe of Hermes.” And so it is for equestrians. The gentle sounds of horses are as musical as the grandest orchestra in the land to our ears.
“Like Horses,” a short film by Julien Guntz of Strasbourg, France, captures this concept perfectly. Guntz uses a Canon 5D Mark II camera and Zoom H2N mic to get up close and personal with the sounds of horses. The result is something almost trancelike in its tranquility.
“Like Horses” is the final directors cut of Guntz’s webserie for YouTube of the same name. All ten of her videos are interesting in their own right, like Episode #2 featuring the sounds of horseball.
