Things are really heating up for horse lovers in Kentucky. From the wrapping up the Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event to the Kentucky Derby hot on its heels, it just doesn’t get much horsier in this neck of the woods. Therefore, I set my sights on this segment of the world for my weekly Riding Habit Revised.
Of course I could tell you about all the oversized hats and custom bags that are common place at top-level equestrian competitions like these. But this is Riding Habit Revised, and so I am going to share something much more curious with you.
At 1403 Story Avenue, Lexington, Kentucky, there is, for one month only, a pop up shop, promising “Equestrian Art, Curiosities and Unusual Equestrian Habits.” This is the temporary brick and mortar home of Hippik Hippique, which caters to the edgy yet elegant equestrian in all of us.
Their eccentric product line features works of art by Sherry Rohl, House of Nines Design: Hats for the Bold, and Bad Button Bespoke Corsets. And when Hippik Hippique takes its show on the road, excellent floor displays are never far behind. The showroom on Story Avenue also features a round-chair loomed together with over 140 leather belts and a vibrant vintage rocking horse just to name a few of the many curiosities on hand.
For more images and information on the many wonders of the Hippik Hippique pop up shop, please jump over to “Hippik: Anthropologie for Horse Girls, If Morticia Addams Ran Anthropologie” on Louisville.com.
If you are lucky enough to be in Kentucky this time of year, I encourage you to veer off the beaten track and try on a different side of equestrian fashion with Hippik Hippique. It promises to be a one-of-kind experience amid the cookie cutter world of equestrian fashion. Don’t miss out. This pop up may be gone before you know it!
