According the New York Daily News, the “Non-Stop” star invited the Mayor and all 51 council members for a tour of the stables which house the 78 horses that primarily draw carriages through Central Park. About a dozen council members showed up and listened as Neeson voiced his frustration.
Dismissing the Mayor’s plans to substitute vintage looking electric cars for the horses as having already failed in a similar program in San Francisco, Neeson said he needed to address the white elephant in the room, “four prime locations on the West Side of New York that realtors must be salivating to get their hands on.” Read the full story here.
Counter-Canter Culture also featured an in-depth article by Lee Siegel in New York Magazine, “Clomping Toward Oblivion” a few weeks ago that we felt gave a balanced report of the pros and cons of the issue. It discusses many of Neeson’s concerns. Find it here.
