The 2014 HITS Winter Circuit at Ocala
Horse Shows in The Sun or “HITS” is not only taking California by storm. They are also making a name for themselves in Florida with their Winter Circuit at Ocala. This ten week circuit runs from January 15 to March 24, and like its western cousin, now features a $1 Million Grand Prix as its finale. This is the first year for the prestigious event in Ocala, which with the Zoetis $1 Million Grand Prix in Saugerties, New York and the AIG $1 Million Grand Prix in Thermal to form the HITS Triple Crown of Show Jumping.
With competition already underway in Ocala, the big news of this week was Tracy Fenney’s two Grand Prix wins in one week. On January 24, she jumped to the top of the $25,000 SmartPak Grand Prix on MTM Timon, and on January 27 she increased her earnings, winning the $50,000 HITS Grand Prix aboard her second mount, MTM Centano. Here she is aboard Centano, taking the win on the 27th.
The $50,000 HITS Grand Prix also served as the inaugural event for the all-new Ocala Horse Properties Stadium. The Stadium was constructed for special classes at the 2014 HITS Ocala Winter Circuit. “This new ring will open the door to hosting International Jumping Events at Post Time Farms,” promised HITS President and CEO Tom Struzzieri, so we can look forward to more big events in the future! Spectators are welcome at HITS Ocala. Admission is free Tuesdays through Saturdays. There is a $5 fee for Grand Prix competitions on Sundays, and the fee for the Great American $1 Million Grand Prix on Monday, March 24 is $10 per person. They boast that HITS Post Time Farm offers one of the best on-site Food Service Pavilions in equestrian sports today. So give central Florida a try for your winter riding experience!
