We pretend to go to the horse show but everyone really knows it’s a circus!
Bring on the clowns! And the horses too!
Every Friday Counter-Canter Culture features the important US and International Horse Shows currently under way.
2103 Las Vegas National Horse Show
The 2013 Las Vegas National Horse Show, hosted by Blenheim Equisports, is the must have ticket in Las Vegas this weekend. Actually admission to the equestrian events at South Point Arena from Tuesday, Nov. 12 through Sunday, Nov. 17 is free of charge, but that should only serve to heighten excitement for the line up of classes, including the $33,000 FEI Jumper Classic on Thursday evening, the $30,000 Las Vegas Speed Classic on Friday evening, and the $50,000 Las Vegas World Cup Grand Prix on Saturday evening. Guests on Saturday evening will also have the opportunity to attend a special autograph session with 2016 United States Olympic Coach Robert Ridland and top equestrian riders including 2012 World Cup Qualifier and Grand Prix Champion Karl Cook.
We hope participants and spectators did it up Vegas-style on Thursday evening for Barn Night. Barns, clubs, teams and other local equestrian programs were invited to compete for top prizes from WC Equestrian based on overall turn-out, group pride, enthusiasm, and equestrian spirit. This year, Thursday night’s top three group finalists will be invited back to Saturday’s Grand Prix night, during which 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes will be announced during Opening Ceremonies. So it was go big or go home for this one!
Finally, make time at 5:00 pm on Friday (tonight!) for the JustWorld International event on the concourse level of the South Point Arena. JustWorld International works through the international equestrian community and its extensive networks to fund and sustain programs in developing countries that provide basic needs to children with little opportunity to receive support from other sources. This extraordinary and worthwhile equestrian organization often entertains guests with a horseless horse jumping competition that is not to be missed! You can learn more about JustWorld International on their website: www.justworldinternational.org and by watching the video below.
