The Horse Circus

We pretend to go to the horse show but everyone really knows it’s a circus!

Bring on the clowns! And the horses too!

Every Friday Counter-Canter Culture features the important US and International Horse Shows currently under way.

US Dressage Finals presented by Adequan

The festivities at the Kentucky Horse Park continue this weekend with the US Dressage Finals, taking place November 7 – 10, 2013, in conjunction with the USDF Dressage in the Bluegrass that offers non-championship classes.  These finals mark the first national head-to-head competition of its kind showcasing riders and horses competing for top honors at all dressage levels from Training to Grand Prix as well as musical freestyles.  At least $50,000 in prize money is up for grabs.

The highlight of the event is sure to be the Saturday evening performances that will take place while spectators dine ringside.  Events include the Welcome Ceremony, a Liberty performance by Kim Barteau and GP Boater, and musical freestyles.  We hope dressage fans are treated to Whit Watkins & Oublette Grand Prix freestyle.  Don’t you just love the piaffe and passage to One Night In Bangkok by Murray Head!

Dressage fans unable to attend this year’s Finals in person can follow the action through updates on the USDF Facebook page and the US Dressage Finals website, as well as watch live online streaming of Friday and Saturday evening competition on the USEF Network (www.usefnetwork.com).
